From 5:30pm this Thursday 16 July Manchester TUC is joining with a range of campaign groups and union bodies to hold the first-ever protest at the proposed site of Number Ten North. With a replica Downing Street door, Larry the cat and a lectern, organisations will set out their demands to a stand-in for the incoming Prime Minister. UNISON members at exam board AQA are on strike all this week. Their next picket will be 8am-1pm on Friday 17 July at their site on Devas Street near Manchester University. Donations to their hardship fund can be made online to Unison AQA 6431 Branch, ref: Hardship account, sort code: 60-83-01, account: 20324685. Individual donations can be made via the crowdfunder. There is a model motion for support here. We understand that Unite members at the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel are going to be on strike again this weekend but we don't yet have picket details. Greater Manchester Workers and Tenants' Association, which is focused on longer term, deeper organising to fight the rise of the far right and make wins for our class, is holding a launch party 5:30-8:30pm on Wednesday 29 July in central Manchester with food, speeches and music.
